Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI

Socket Type: AM4 | Form Factor: ATX | Chipset: X570

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI is the first mini-ITX motherboard on this list, and it’s a really good choice for those with small cases/environments who want a powerful mini-ITX Ryzen 9 board.

Power Design

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI vrm

When we talk about mini-ITX boards, one of the first things that come to mind is how little space there is for features and power design.

The X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI does a great job of maximizing the space available with an efficient design that still manages to pack decent power delivery for Ryzen 9 processors.

That being said, this is not a motherboard if you’re looking to overclock your Ryzen 9 5900x, but it will handle stock speeds just fine.

This board does not use a PWM doubler. Instead, it uses eight direct phases of power delivery. This means that your power draw will always be smooth and steady. Plus, with Infineon 70A Power Stage MOSFETS, you get a decent amount of power delivered to your processor.

Cooling System

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI cooling system

The most common problem with Mini-ITX builds is making sure the components don’t overheat. But this won’t be a problem with Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI. Its advanced thermal design ensures that your system runs smoothly even under heavy load, while its smart chipset fan heatsink will keep your chipset cool. The 5 W/mK LAIRD Thermal Conductivity Pad will keep your CPU stays frosty, and its M.2 Thermal Guard with Multi-Layered Heatsink Design will keep your M.2 SSDs safe from overheating.

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI memory

Unlike the ATX motherboards we have seen so far, this 2-slot motherboard can only support up to 64GB of DDR4 dual-channel memory, which can be overclocked to a maximum of 5300Mhz OC. 64GB is more than enough, but if you need more, you should probably go for an ATX motherboard.

Expansion Slots

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI-pcie-slot

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI has only a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, which can be used to install a graphics card; it might sound strange after reading other motherboards’ descriptions but keep in mind that this is a Mini-ITX motherboard.

Storage Options

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI-sata-ports

It has two M.2 connectors that provide speeds of up to PCIe 4.0 x4, so you can load up on games and files faster than ever before. And if that’s not enough, it also has four SATA 6Gb/s connectors, so you can expand your storage capacity as needed. Who said that mini-ITX builds couldn’t be powerful and fully functional?

Networking & Connectivity

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI io port

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI comes with Intel® 1 GbE LAN chip for your ethernet needs. Plus, its built-in Wi-Fi 6 AX200 allows you to connect to the internet without any cords or cables, and if that wasn’t enough, this motherboard also comes with BLUETOOTH 5.0. Regarding USB connectivity, it has one USB Type-C port and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, both capable of delivering some good speeds. Plus, there are plenty of other ports to keep all your devices connected – including two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two USB 2.0/1.1 ports.

Design

I am not going to talk about the actual design because it’s a Mini-ITX motherboard meaning its design is pretty limited. What I would like to talk about is the base plate, a feature I really like on this motherboard. The base plate helps you maintain a steady and secure system by preventing bending of the motherboard. It provides a very clean and stable base to the board, and I really like it.

What I Like About The Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI

There are a lot of things I like about this mini-ITX motherboard, from its fully-fledged power design to its solid build quality and smart cooling system.

What I Don’t Like About The Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI

The only thing I don’t like about this motherboard is that it has only one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and offers only two fan headers.

Design

This motherboard looks very similar to Asus Prime B550M-A, with just a small difference in the layout and color. So as you already know, I don’t really like it, but the design is not the most important aspect that I look at. What matters to me is how powerful it can be for its low price.

What I Like About The Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE

I really like Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE for its amazing features and power consumption. It has most of the features I need on a motherboard with good stability and reliability.

What I Don’t Like About The Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE

I can think of two things that I don’t like about this motherboard. The first one is its design, which is very common for Micro ATX motherboards. The second thing is that, again, like Asus Prime B550M-A, it doesn’t have any USB type C ports.

Buying guide for Ryzen 9 5900x Motherboards

Now that you know what the best motherboards for Ryzen 9 5900x are, I would like to give you some suggestions on how to choose the right motherboard.

In this section, I will talk about the different aspects you need to consider when choosing a motherboard and how they can affect your system.

1. Price

The price of a motherboard is very important. It’s obvious that if you have a $150 budget, you’re not going to be able to buy a $500 motherboard. That’s why we split this article into three parts, so you can choose a budget range and find the best motherboards for your budget.

2. Brand

Another important factor when choosing a motherboard is the brand. If you have noticed, there are only 3 brands that I have included on the list, and these brands are ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte. The reason is that these brands have the most reliable motherboards in their product line-ups. Keep in mind that when choosing a motherboard, you are also choosing the BIOS you will run on your motherboard. So choose a reputable brand with experience in the motherboard business.

3. Chipset

One of the most important things that you should always check before choosing a motherboard is its chipset. If you have noticed, I have only included motherboards that have either the X570 or B550 chipset. Why, you might ask? It’s simple; they are made for Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. The chipset is usually included in the name of the motherboard, like X570 AORUS pro, for example. Each chipset has its own unique features and specifications that can determine performance factors like the number of PCIe lanes and if you can overclock your CPU or not.

4. Socket type

This is probably the most important factor as it will determine which CPU you will be able to install on the motherboard. I will not get into details about sockets, but I will quickly explain why this is important. A motherboard that has an AM4 socket supports only AMD Ryzen CPUs. A motherboard with an LGA socket only supports Intel and other CPUs made for LGA sockets. It is easy to check what socket type a motherboard has just by checking the motherboard’s specs to see what CPUs are compatible with it.

5. Power Design

It is really important to make sure your motherboard has enough power phases to provide stable voltage and power to your CPU, especially when we are talking about a high-end processor like the Ryzen 9 5900x. The power design and the number VRMs actually affect your CPU’s stability and performance. This is especially important for overclocking as you want to have as much power and stability as possible.

6. Cooling System

Another really important factor that you should definitely check before buying a motherboard is the onboard cooling system. A good motherboard will have enough heatsinks to cool down the CPU, chipset, and M.2s. Again, if you want to overclock, you should pay a lot of attention to the cooling system of the motherboard.

7. Memory

There are 3 things you should check before buying a motherboard for Ryzen 9 5900x.

The first thing to consider is how many RAM slots your motherboard has. Most of the motherboards on this list have 4 memory slots, and they can hold up to 64GB. You will probably install a dual-channel kit on your motherboard, so it is important to have the extra two memory slots in case you want to upgrade in the future.

The second thing you should check is the storage of the memory slots. All the motherboards on this list have at least 64GB of memory storage, with most having 128GB. While 128GB might sound like a lot, you should remember that this number is the maximum memory storage. So even if you are not planning to use 128GB of memory, you should still consider getting a motherboard with 128GB of memory storage just to increase your future-proofing.

The third and final thing is the speed of the RAM supported by the motherboard. AMD recommends at least 3600MHz for Ryzen 9 5900x, but you can always aim for RAM with a higher clock speed if you want to overclock your processor.

8. Storage Options

Storage options are another important factor you should consider when buying a motherboard. You definitely want to have at least two M.2 slots and multiple SATA ports. The M.2 slots are the fastest storage option right now, and this is where you want to put your OS and programs. The SATA ports are for more traditional hard drives, where you can store your media files.

9. Expansion Slots

The expansion slots will determine the number of GPUs you will be able to install in your system and if you can SLI or Crossfire in the future (if you plan to buy another graphics card). You should also pay special attention to the generation of the PCI-e slots and the number of lanes, as this will affect the speed of your graphics cards and not only.

10. Networking & Connectivity

The connectivity is also something important to consider before buying your motherboard. It will affect the number of internal and external devices that you can use. Things like the number and type of USB ports and USB headers, Bluetooth connectivity, Wifi connectivity, LAN speed, etc., are really important, especially if you are into content creation, online streaming, or gaming.

11. Design

This is the less important factor by far, as it is subjective and only affects the look of your system. It won’t affect the performance or stability of your system, so it is up to you and your preference.

Conclusion

This was a really long article, and I know that it was a lot of information, but I hope it helped you choose the best motherboard for Ryzen 9 5900x. There are many good motherboards for all budgets and purposes, so go on and find the best motherboard for you.
