Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER

Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER

Socket Type: AM4 | Form Factor: ATX | Chipset: X570

Another premium motherboard that supports the latest Ryzen 5 5600x CPU is this Aorus version. It is a very powerful motherboard, and we are going to talk more in detail so you can understand the why.

Power Design

Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER-power-design-

The Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER has a Direct 14 Phases Infineon Digital VRM Solution with PowIRstage without phase doubler, so you know it’s good for overclocking. Furthermore, its 2X Copper PCB design offers ample power trace paths to handle greater-than-average power loads while also dissipating heat from the crucial CPU power delivery zone. So if you’re looking to get your system to the limit, this motherboard is a good choice.

Storage Options

gigabyte x570 aorus master storage options

When it comes to storage, there is good and bad news. The good news is that it comes with three M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 ports that can be used at the same time. The bad news is that while it has 6 SATA III ports, only four of them can be used if all the M.2 PCIe 4.0 ports are being used at the same time since they share bandwidth with the SATA ports.

Networking & Connectivity

gigabyte x570 aorus master networking and connectivity

There are plenty of connectivity options for this motherboard, including:

  • 1 USB Type C 3.2 Gen port
  • 3 USB Type A 3.2 Gen ports
  • 4 USB 2.0 ports

It also comes with two LAN chips, a 1 x Realtek 2.5GbE LAN chip and an Intel GbE LAN chip, and a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Design

While the design is the last thing that is important when choosing a motherboard, I must say that Aorus Master looks really nice. It has a dark design with minimal RGD lighting making it look premium.

What I like about the X570 AORUS MASTER

I think Gigabyte did a really good job with this motherboard as it has a very good power delivery system and many cooling features. It also has 3 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 ports that can be used at the same time. Furthermore, it has two LAN chips, which is nice since you still have a working internet connection if one fails.

What I don’t like about the X570 AORUS MASTER

There are a few things that I would like to see changed. First, it has 6 SATA 3 ports, but only 4 of them can be used if you are using the M.2 PCIe 4.0 ports at the same time since they share bandwidth. The second thing I would like to see is a passive chipset heatsink with no fan, as it would make the motherboard much more silent.

MSI MEG X570 UNIFY

MSI MEG X570 UNIFY

Socket Type: AM4 | Form Factor: ATX | Chipset: X570

The final high-end motherboard on the list is the MSI MEG X570 UNIFY, a motherboard from MSI’s mid-upper series of X570 boards.

Power Design

MSI’s MEG X570 UNIFY did a really good job with the memory slots, as it comes with the standard for high-end motherboards. It has four DDR4 DIMM slots that can accommodate up to 128GB of RAM, but it goes the extra mile when it comes to speed. The MEG X570 UNIFY can run up to 5000MHz, which is definitely something that you don’t see every day.

Expansion slots

x570 unify expansion slots

This X570 chipset motherboard has three PCIe 4.0 x16 slots that can be configured in different ways. The first one runs at x16 speed and is powered by the CPU, the second runs at x8 speed, while the third runs at x4 speed. Let’s start with the USB ports. It has three USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps ports (two Type-A and one Type-C), four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports, and six USB 2.0 ports, so you’ll have plenty of connectivity options available.

When it comes to networking, it has a Realtek® RTL8125 2.5 gigabit LAN port, a dual-band Intel® WiFi 6/ 6E chip (up to 2.4 2.4Gbps), and Bluetooth 5.0, so you can enjoy fast wired and wireless connections.

Design

You know that I don’t like to talk much about design, but this motherboard is probably the most beautiful on this list. It has a dark design and doesn’t have any RGB lighting, which is surprisingly nice and refreshing. It will look great in any kind of case, so if you want a high-end motherboard that is also eye-catching, this might be the one for you.

What I like about the MSI MEG X570 UNIFY

As you can understand, I really like the cooling design, and this is what makes this motherboard so special. It has a lot of features to keep the system cool, which means it will run stably for a long time without getting too hot.

What I don’t like about the MSI MEG X570 UNIFY

To be honest, I would prefer more options when it comes to storage ports, as this motherboard has only four SATA 3 ports and two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. Also, I would prefer no chipset fan, just like other motherboards in this price range.

Cooling System

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI heatsink

While the cooling setup is pretty good on this motherboard, the CPU area is the main issue. It has a 4-layer PCB which is ok but could be better. With PCIe 4.0 technology, a lot of heat is generated, and the 4 layers won’t disperse it properly. Other than that, it has nice extended heatsinks on the VRMs and a really big and thick SHIELD FROZR heat sink for your M.2s. Finally, the chipset has a small heatsink with a fan, which is not so high quality and can be a bit noisy.

Memory

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI memory

The Memory support of this board is pretty solid, with 4 x DIMM slots that can accommodate up to 128GB DDR4 memory at 4400 O.C., which is extremely good.

Expansion slots

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI expansion slots

With this motherboard, you get 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x16) slot (reinforced), a second one at PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4) speed, and lastly, 3 x PCIe 4.0 x1 slots for any expansion cards you might need. It is a good expansion slot configuration, but it would be better if the second x16 slot was at x8 speed.

Storage Options

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI storage options

This motherboard has six SATA 6Gb/s ports for all your storage devices and 2 x M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots for your NVMe SSDs. Keep in mind that there is only one heatsink for the M.2 SSDs, so you should plug your OS boot drive into the port closest to it.

Networking & Connectivity

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI networking and connectivity

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI features an Intel I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet for 1GBps LAN experiences. It also has Intel Dual Band WiFi 2.4/5 GHz with speeds up to 433Mbps and Bluetooth 4.2 technology built into it. Again, just like all other motherboards on this list, you get plenty of USB ports, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A) ports, and 6 x USB 2.0 ports for all of your devices.

Design

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI has a black PCB and black heatsinks with silver accents. I don’t like it that much to be honest, but if you are happy with the rest of the motherboard, it doesn’t really matter.

What I like about the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI

Generally speaking, this motherboard is pretty good. I really like the memory support, PCIe 4.0 x16, and the power delivery system.

What I don’t like about the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI

I think it has overheating problems, and the chipset fan is unnecessary and can be noisy. It misses some of the extra features of the high-end motherboards, like USB type-C, but it’s a pretty solid motherboard for this price.

Best Budget Motherboards For Ryzen 5 5600x (Under 150$ )

This is the final category of motherboards for Ryzen 5 5600x CPUs. These are the best budget-friendly AMD Ryzen 5 5600X motherboards you can buy. They are all AM4 socket motherboards, so they are compatible with the Ryzen 5 5600X, but they have a few limitations compared to the premium Ryzen 5 5600X motherboards.

Asus PRIME X570-P

Asus PRIME X570-P

Socket Type: AM4 | Form Factor: ATX | Chipset: X570

The first budget-friendly motherboard that I will recommend is Asus PRIME X570-P. It is a great low-budget motherboard, but it has some limitations compared to higher-end models.

Power Design

Asus PRIME X570-P power design

This mobo packs in premium VRM 8+2 50A power phases (4 real phases work with doublers), ensuring your system stays powered while gaming or overclocking. With the same VRM as high-end Asus models, you can trust that this board will deliver the performance you need. Actually, one of the things I like the most about this motherboard is that despite being low-budget, it has premium components.

Cooling System

Asus PRIME X570-P cooling system

With so much power comes a lot of heat. Luckily, Asus PRIME X570-P has some really nice heatsinks that can keep the VRMs cool even when overclocking. It is a 6-layer PCB motherboard, so it has enough layers to dissipate all the heat properly. The chipset cooling consists of a fan that isn’t that noisy, surprisingly.

The only downside is that there is no M.2 heatsink on this motherboard, so you can get throttling during heavy loads, especially if you plug your SSD into the slot next to the GPU PCIe.

Memory

Asus PRIME X570-P memory

The memory of Asus PRIME X570-A has nothing to be jealous of the high-end X570 motherboards. It has 4 x DIMM DDR4 slots up to 128GB with overclocking up to 5100MHz. As you can understand, this makes it a great budget-friendly motherboard for Ryzen 5 5600X.

Expansion Slots

Asus PRIME X570-PCIe

Again, just like the high-end Asus models, this motherboard has a great expansion slot configuration. You get 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 (x16) slot, 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4) and 3 PCIe 4.0 x1 slots for all of your expansion cards. It doesn’t support Nvidia SLI, but you can still run an AMD Crossfire configuration.

Storage Options

ASUS PRIME X570-P has a pretty good storage configuration. It supports six SATA 6Gb/s ports and 2 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots.

You just need to be careful to which slot you plug the M.2 SSD to avoid throttling. As mentioned, there is no M.2 heatsink on the motherboard, so you should not plug your SSD into the port close to the CPU.

Networking & Connectivity

Asus PRIME X570-P connectivity

There are all the basic connectivity options you expect from a budget-friendly motherboard. It has Realtek® RTL8111H with ASUS LANGuard to plug your ethernet cable.

There are also many USB ports for your USB devices. It has 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A ) slots 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port(s) and 5 x USB 2.0 ports on the back panel.

Design

The design of the Asus PRIME X570-P is pretty simple; it has a black PCB with white lanes and silver heatsinks. In my personal opinion, the motherboard looks neither good nor bad.

What I like about the Asus PRIME X570-P

What I like about ASUS PRIME X570-P is the overall quality of it and that ASUS didn’t sacrifice quality in this budget-friendly model. You still get a high-quality premium VRM, 6-layer PCB, excellent memory capabilities, and just fewer premium features compared to higher-end models.

What I don’t like about the Asus PRIME X570-P

I think the only downside of Asus PRIME X570-P is that it doesn’t have a second M.2 heatsink, so you might get throttling with your SSD plugged into the port next to the CPU. Other than that, this motherboard is on point.

Gigabyte B550M DS3H Micro ATX

Gigabyte B550M DS3H Motherboard_575px

Socket Type: AM4 | Form Factor: Micro-ATX | Chipset: B550

Gigabyte’s B550M DS3H is the only Micro-ATX motherboard that I recommend in this article. It is not that I do not like Micro-ATX or mini ITX motherboards, but ATX mobos have the space to include more PCI-E slots and more storage options, etc.

Power Design

Gigabyte B550M DS3H Motherboard_575px power design

Micro-ATX motherboards are not made for enthusiasts, so they do not have very high-power VRMs. B550M DS3H is no exception. It has a 5+3 phase VRM that’s enough to run Ryzen 5 5600X, but I wouldn’t try to overclock it.

Cooling System

Gigabyte B550M DS3H cooling system

This Gigabyte motherboard comes with the basic heatsinks that are probably enough for keeping it cool. It has one VRM heatsink and a chipset heatsink. There is no heatsink over the top VRMs and no M.2 heatsink, which does not surprise me cause there is not much space.

Memory

Gigabyte B550M DS3H memory

Micro-ATX motherboards usually have just 2 memory slots, but this one has 4 DIMM DDR4 slots which is a great feature for future-proofing your build because you can fit up to 128GB RAM on it. B550M DS3H supports speeds up to 4733MHz, which is pretty good.

Expansion Slots

Gigabyte B550M DS3H expansion slots

This motherboard has 1 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slot (x16), 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4) slot and one additional PCIe 4.0 x1 slot for all your expansion cards. I think the expansion slot configuration is decent for a Micro-ATX motherboard.

Storage Options

Gigabyte B550M DS3H storage

This motherboard has a good storage configuration with 2 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots and four SATA 6Gb/s ports. The only thing that worries me is that there is no M.2 heatsink on the motherboard, so I suggest not blocking the M.2 slot right next to the CPU because it might throttle your SSD.

Networking & Connectivity

Gigabyte B550M DS3H connectivity

Less is more is the motto of this mobo when it comes to connectivity. You get basic connectivity on Gigabyte B550M DS3H with Realtek® GbE LAN chip (10/100/1000 Mbit), 6 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (SuperSpeed USB) ports, and 6x USB 2.0.

Design

The design of this board is dark with white lines. However, it doesn’t look even remotely premium. I am not super excited about the design, but overall, Gigabyte B550M DS3H is a pretty decent motherboard.

What I like about the Gigabyte B550M DS3H

I appreciate that it has 4 DIMM slots and two M.2 PCI-E 4.0 x4 slots for future additions of memory and storage. Also, 2 PCIe x16 slots are more than enough for any build.

What I don’t like about the Gigabyte B550M DS3H

I am really skeptical about the absence of the M.2 heatsink. If you have an M.2 PCIe SSD plugged in the slot next to the main PCIe slot, you might get throttling. I don’t think it’s a deal-breaker, but still, it’s not good for your SSD.

Ryzen 5 5600x Buying Guide

You should pay attention to certain things when buying a motherboard for the Ryzen 5 5600x. These are the same things that I am paying attention to when buying a motherboard or writing a review.

I believe that it is ok reading reviews online, but in the end, you should know some things about the hardware that you are buying. So, I will try to give you some information about the things that you should pay attention to when buying a motherboard for the Ryzen 5 5600x.

CPU Socket

Let’s start with the absolute basics. The CPU socket is the first and most important thing that you should pay attention to when buying any motherboard. This is because the CPU socket will determine which motherboards are compatible or not with your processor.

Ryzen 5 5600x uses the AM4 socket, so you need to make sure that the motherboard you are going to buy has an AM4 socket. If it doesn’t, then it is not compatible with the Ryzen 5 5600x, and you should look for a different motherboard. To check what socket your motherboard has, you should look at the specs of your motherboard on the manufacturer’s website.

Brand

The brand of the motherboard is not as important as the socket, but it is still something that you should pay attention to. This is because some brands are better than others. Keep in mind that the brand is not only responsible for the motherboard’s quality but also for the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) and the warranty.

Some motherboards are known to have better BIOSes than others, and some have better warranties than others. So, you should do your research on the brands of the motherboards that you are interested in before making a purchase.

As you have noticed in my articles, I recommend only 3 motherboard brands: ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI. These are the top 3 brands in the industry, and they make great motherboards.

Chipset

Another really important thing that you should pay attention to when buying a motherboard is the chipset. The chipset is responsible for the features of the motherboard and its compatibility. Some motherboards have better features than others, and this is because they use different chipsets.

The best chipsets for Ryzen 5 5600x use the X570 and B550 chipset, so you need to make sure that the motherboard you are buying uses one of these chipsets. If it doesn’t, you won’t be able to take full advantage of the Ryzen 5 5600x.

The X570 is considered a bit better than the B550, but B550 is still a great chipset, so don’t be afraid to buy a motherboard that uses the latter.

Form Factor

The motherboard’s form factor is also something you should pay attention to when making your purchase. The form factor is responsible for the size and shape of the motherboard. Some motherboards are bigger than others, and some are smaller.

But it is not only about the size but also about the power and features.

The 3 most common form factors are ATX, Micro ATX, and Mini ITX. So, you should choose the form factor that is best for you.

CPU Power Design

The CPU power design is the first thing I discuss when reviewing motherboards. This is because the power design is responsible for the power that the motherboard can provide to the processor.

Some motherboards have more processing power than others, and this is important, especially if you are planning on overclocking your Ryzen 5 5600x. The more CPU power a motherboard has, the better it is for overclocking. So, you should make sure that the motherboard you are buying has enough CPU power for your needs.

Cooling System

If you choose a powerful motherboard, you must consider the cooling system. The more power a motherboard has, the more heat it will produce. So, you need to make sure that the motherboard has a good cooling system.

The best motherboards for overclocking have great cooling systems that can handle the extra heat.

This means they have a good VRM heatsink, 6 PCB layers, chipset heatsink, and M.2 heatsinks. So, if you are looking for a motherboard to overclock your Ryzen 5 5600x, then you should pay special attention to the cooling.

Expansion Slots and PCIe

If you are into gaming, then you know that dedicated graphics cards are important. This is why you need to make sure that the motherboard you are buying has enough expansion slots and PCIe lanes.

The PCIe slots are the fastest slots on the motherboard, and this is where you will install your graphics card. So, you need to make sure that the motherboard has enough of them and that they are of the right type.

This is especially important if you are planning on using two or more graphics cards. So, make sure to check the number of PCIe slots, the number of PCIe lanes, and if the motherboard is SLI or Crossfire compatible.

RAM Support

Another thing you should pay attention to is the RAM support. The best motherboards for Ryzen 5 5600x have support for up to 128GB of RAM. To be honest, you will be ok with a motherboard that has support for up to 64GB of RAM, but if you are planning on upgrading your system in the future, then you should make sure that the motherboard has support for more than 64GB of RAM.

The number of slots is also important. Most motherboards have 4 slots, so you should not have a problem finding one that has enough slots for your needs.

Finally, you should also check the memory speed. Ryzen 5 5600x can support up to 3200MHz of memory speed. So, if you want to get the most out of your CPU, you should make sure that the motherboard supports at least 3200MHz of memory speed.

Storage Options

Storage options are also important, and you should make sure that the motherboard you are buying has enough of them. You should choose a motherboard that has both SATA ports and M.2 slots.

The M.2 slots are the fastest slots on the motherboard, and this is where you will install your SSD. So, you need to make sure that the motherboard has at least 1 of them, preferably 2.

The SATA ports are also important because they are used to connect your hard drives and optical drives. Depending on your needs, you may need more or fewer SATA ports. Four is the minimum number of SATA ports that you should have.

Network Interface and Connectivity

The network interface is also important, and you should make sure that the motherboard has a good one. The best motherboards for Ryzen 5 5600x have a 5 Gigabit Ethernet port. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are features that you will find on premium motherboards that are not essential but nice to have.

Finally, USB connectivity is also important. Choose a motherboard with many USB ports, with at least 1 being Type-C.

Price

Of course, price is a very important factor when it comes to motherboards. You should try to get the most bang for your buck.

Don’t get blinded by marketing tricks and features you are never going to use. Focus on the features that are important to you and your needs, and find a quality motherboard that fits your budget.

Because I know the price’s importance, unlike other reviews, I have included good mid and low-end motherboards in this list. So, you will surely find a quality motherboard within your budget.

Warranty

Having a good warranty is also important. The best motherboard brands come with a three-year warranty. Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI offer three-year warranties, which is one of the many reasons they are the best motherboard brands.

Design and RGB

I know that younger guys and hardcore gamers care about the design and RGB support of the motherboard, but for me, it is not important at all. They are the last things that I care about when choosing a motherboard. If you are like me, you can save some money and go for a motherboard that does not have a flashy design but has all the features you need.
